Lea Zmurko:  Ending the work week in a humid haze

July 26: Friday is feeling hot

Temperatures will continue to rise into the 80s today with lots of sunshine. A warm and comfortable evening ahead and temperatures will stay well above normal next week as well.

We will still see high pressure overhead providing dry and quiet conditions for our Friday. The southerly winds will bring in a breeze for the next few days and drive warm and humid air into the region. The hot and muggy weather will continue to stick around the Northland into tomorrow.

High temperatures will be pushing the mid to upper 80s and heat index values will be well into the 90s at some points. There is the potential for heat risks later this weekend as most of the area will be affected by the hot conditions.

Still clearing out the wildfire smoke aloft from the fires out in Canada, there will be a haze lingering in our sky coverage as that dissipates.

We will start to see some relief from the humidity with the arrival of some showers and thunderstorms on Saturday further north in Minnesota, and then more widespread rain on Sunday afternoon will last into Monday.

Temperatures will continue to remain well above normal for the next week as we approach the beginning of August.
