Lea Zmurko: Expecting a swing in temperatures after the snow settles
One more considerably chilly morning for the Northland as elevated wind chills puts regions in either Extreme Cold Warnings or Cold Weather Advisories until mid-morning. The feel like temperatures will range from -25 to -40 in the dark and early hours but relief will be widespread as the sun rises.
Snow will be arriving throughout the daypart sticking close to the Arrowhead and South Shore where up to 2 inches can be found by tonight, further inland and near the Head of the Lake snow accumulation will remain under an inch. The flakes will be fine fluffy crystals as the air has been significantly dry with high pressure overhead.

The lake will likely enhance snowfall amounts along the South Shore with a favorable northerly wind continuing overnight. This could bring some snowfall totals closer to 3 inches for some areas at the high elevations on the Bayfield Peninsula.
The rest of the workweek will be quiet, but temperatures will be on the quick climb with conditions above freezing by the weekend. The Northland can brace for some messy precipitation with a wintry mix of sleet, snow, and rain possible with the low-pressure system for Sunday
