Lea Zmurko: Hard to see, but ready for another week of winter weather

December 9: Snow, slush, and a lot of fog

The bump in temperatures resulted in a wintry mix for many overnight, leaving the roads slushy and covered for the early Monday morning commute. Some of the snow will still be passing in the early morning.

The bump in temperatures resulted in a wintry mix for many overnight, leaving the roads slushy and covered for the early Monday morning commute. Some of the snow will still be passing in the early morning.

As the heavy snow wraps up and moves across the Arrowhead dense fog will start to roll in reducing the visibility for many in east central Minnesota and out across the I-35 corridor into northwestern Wisconsin. A dense fog advisory remains in place until noon today as the low-lying clouds will slowly start to lift after sunrise. Visibility remains under a mile for many during the peak commute timeframe, so drivers are urged to go slow and take their time.

By the afternoon clouds will be continuing to pass overhead, and some light flakes are expected to fall as an additional 2-5 inches across the higher terrain along the Arrowhead.

Lake effect snow will be prevalent for the South Shore again the week as nearly an additional 6 inches of snow will make it across Iron County over the course of today and tomorrow.

With the help of some cold northerly gusts of wind, temperatures will continue to drop as a cold snap sets up for Thursday and Friday morning with highs in the single digits to teens with overnight lows below zero.
