Lea Zmurko: Looking forward to a lovely long weekend

August 30: Sunshine and a weekend breeze

Wrapping up the workweek in the upper 70s with plenty of sunshine. Winds will be picking up from the west.

As rain and showers cleared overnight, the Northland will be welcoming a beautiful, breezy day for the end of the week. Temperatures will make it up into the mid to upper 70s this afternoon and those seasonal temperatures will stick around for the next stretch. Skies will remain mostly clear with a few puffy clouds passing by in the afternoon.

Winds will be picking up speed and coming from the west this afternoon, expecting 10-15 mph winds and gusts of 20mph. The breeze will continue into Saturday and bring in a few isolated showers across Northern Minnesota in the afternoon and early evening. Otherwise, conditions will remain dry through the extended weekend and into next work week with high pressure in place.
