Lea Zmurko: Old man winter is not holding back
As you walk out the door, the blustery winds will immediately greet you. The clipper last night has exited to the east, and a cold front continues to close in from behind. Temperatures will continue to drop this afternoon, and the consistent northwest winds will leave the wind chill temperatures below zeros by the middle of the day.
Winds will exceed 35-45 mph winds gusts across the Range and northern Minnesota, and up to 60 mph along the North Shore. A wind advisory remains in place across most of the Northland.
With the recent snow just settling to the surface, the strong winds will likely continue to move the flakes around and isolated snow squalls are possible in the very northern parts of Minnesota as visibility is quickly reduced and localized heavy snow continues 1-2 additional inches to the area.
The big lake will continue to bring lake effect snow to the South Shore through Thursday morning as heavy snowfall is expected in Iron County and eastern Ashland County.
