June 28: Starting the weekend with showers

A wet and foggy Friday will bring widespread showers throughout the Northland this morning. Clearing for a foggy afternoon and then isolated storms in the overnight with more rainfall chances. Sunshine will make its return for the later parts of Saturday and stay into Sunday.

Wrapping up the week with more rainfall this morning. The Northland had the arrival of widespread moderate to heavy rainfall will bring upwards of an inch of additional rainfall in areas across northern Minnesota. This system is following a warm front and will clear by the early afternoon and then a few isolated showers will move across during the afternoon and early evening hours.

 Cloud coverage will remain thick, and temperatures will top off around 70 degrees with some areas hanging in the upper 60s.

As the evening progresses, so does the chance for isolated severe thunderstorms. A marginal risk is in place for central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. All the leftover rain will fall early Saturday morning and then conditions will remain dry into the early parts of Monday.

Today

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers between noon and 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 71. Breezy, with a southeast wind around 15 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Tonight

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 59. Southwest wind around 10 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.

Saturday

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7am, then a slight chance of showers between 7am and 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. Breezy, with a northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday

Sunny, with a high near 71. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon.

Monday

A chance of showers, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 69. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday

A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 75. Breezy, with a west wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday

A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Sunny, with a high near 77. Breezy, with a west wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
