Lea Zmurko: Seeing more sunshine in the Northland

July 18: A sunny afternoon ahead

Some more sunshine in the Northland for today, dry conditions persist, and temperatures will be in the upper 70s by the late afternoon.

A few clouds and patchy spots of fog along the Iron range and northwestern Wisconsin will dissipate as the sun rises today. A few puffy cumulus clouds may develop and pass overhead in the daypart as the winds push in from the southwest.

It will be a clear and sunny day for all here. Temperatures will reach the upper 70s by the afternoon and UV index will climb to above 7 in some places.

Conditions will stay bright and sunny through the start of the weekend as temperatures move into the 80s.

As more moisture moves in, chances for some evening showers increase for Saturday and into next week. These passing showers should be short lived as the atmosphere is rather dry to start. All rainfall accumulation totals are forecasted to be minimal and less than a quarter inch.
