Lea Zmurko: Skies are still dry as winds pick up

November 7: Sunshine today and tomorrow

Skies are remaining sunny as temperatures climb into the low 50s by the end of the week. The next chance for rain will arrive Saturday evening.

Skies will remain clear for another day as high pressure remains overhead. The few areas of patchy fog will clear by sunrise and in the late morning. Most of the low-lying clouds are east of the I-35 corridor in northwest WI, and throughout central portions of Minnesota just south of Brainerd Lakes.

A few clouds will cross the lake at the start of the day, but conditions will clear for this afternoon. Temperatures will plateau in the mid-40s and low 50s for both today and tomorrow.

With an increase in pressure gradient, winds will start to pick up. Westerly winds will be clocking 10-15 mph wind speeds with gusts sustaining upwards of 30 mph winds. The biggest impact of these winds will be seen down by the Lake as Gales are expected this from this afternoon into tomorrow morning.

The dry conditions will end Saturday afternoon as rain arrives in the evening and continue into Sunday morning, total rainfall will be light and under half an inch across the Northland.
