Lea Zmurko: Snow chances start to increase

November 20: Snow slowly starts to fall

Up to an inch of snow is expected across the Northland by tonight, and the rest of the week remains chilly with a northwest breeze.

It is a chilly morning as clouds cross overhead and bring up to an inch of light snow, more can be expected for parts of north central Minnesota today and along the South Shore by tonight.

Today winds will continue from the southwest wrapping around a large low-pressure system as it moves eastward. Snow will fall in passing bands from Brainerd Lakes north to International Falls and continue across the Northland onto the UP. Accumulation remains light along the North Shore, but flakes can still be spotted in the air.

After the system clears on Thursday, temperatures will be colder but more seasonable through the next week. With windy days in the upcoming forecast the Northwest Gales are possible tomorrow morning on Lake Superior. Dry weather will round out the week on Friday before a chance for light snow moves in for Sunday as a clipper system crosses.
