Lea Zmurko: So much sunshine!
We are wrapping up this hot week with a grand finale Friday!
Hot temperatures with sunny skies are expected this afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s across the Northland with heat index temperatures a few degrees higher region wide. With an area of high pressure moving in, the humidity will be lower today and the muggy conditions will subside through the daypart.
The few low-lying areas with early morning fog will clear up as the sun ascends. Not too many clouds will be passing by overhead this afternoon as the dry air advects into the region.
Conditions will remain dry until Saturday afternoon and evening, and some isolated to scattered thunderstorms with an increased risk for damaging winds and large hail possible. These storms will be short lived and clear through most of northern Minnesota by the early evening and make there way into Michigan by the overnight hours.
After the rain events clear, Sunday will see some more comfortable and cooler conditions for the upcoming week. Temperatures will stay in the mid 70s to low 80s with a few more chances for some showers and storms as this new pattern settles in.
