Severe weather is possible for the Northland this evening
A mid-week warm-up will bring temperatures 10-15 degrees above average for the next few days.
It will be a preview to summer as the 80-degree weather for Wednesday and Thursday will mix with a surge of moist air. This will fuel strong storms throughout the rest of the week.
Severe weather is expected tonight with a hazardous outlook from the National Weather Service in place from 3pm- 11pm. The area of concern includes most of Northeast Minnesota and Northwest Wisconsin. The risk level of the anticipated system is currently at a level 3 out of 5. Heavy rainfall, damaging winds and large hail of up to 3 inches is anticipated for the evening. The chances for tornado formation are possible but the risk remains low. The strongest winds will be on the leading edge of the system and produce gusts up to 70 mph.
There will be some relief from the heat and humidity by the beginning of the weekend, skies will clear for Friday and bring the temperatures back to the mid 70s and rain chances will reduce to evening pop up showers into the weekend.
