Lea Zmurko: Sunny skies on the rise as we near the weekend

June 13: Sun returns for the Northland

Sunny conditions arrive for Thursday along with some humidity. There are slight chances for showers in the evening before high and dry conditions arrive Friday.

The last of the isolated storms from the system Wednesday evening cleared the Northland in the early hours of Thursday. Some areas along the north shore and in the low-lying parts of northern Minnesota are seeing fog and clouds in the early hours. This will diminish as the sun comes up and after sunrise, many are waking up to clear skies with rising temperatures that will burn off any lingering fog and low-lying clouds.

Temperatures will be in the upper 70s and low 80s by the late afternoon. A few scattered showers with isolated storms will pass in the later hours of the evening but giving way to a quiet Friday as high pressure moves into the area. After tonight temperatures will be comfortable in the low 70s with mostly sunshine.

Active weather returns for Father’s Day Weekend with showers returning for Saturday evening and chances for severe risks increasing Sunday into Monday.
