Lea Zmurko: Sunshine and a warm breeze ahead of the storms

September 4: Midweek sunshine

A bright and breezy day as temperatures reach the upper 70s. Conditions are slated to change with storms arriving tonight.

Another clear and bright day across the Northland with temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s, winds will continue to pick up speed coming from the southwest at 10-15 mph.

Conditions will shift by the early evening as scattered showers and thunderstorms build in across the region making their way to the Iron Range between 7-8PM and then the Twin Ports and the North Shore overnight. Most will be seeing strong storms with chances for localized heavy rain and gusty winds. The system is being tracked as it approaches as there is a marginal risk of severe weather potential.

The showers will linger in northwestern Wisconsin through out the early morning hours and then a few isolated storms and pop-up showers will linger in the wake of the cold front until Friday morning as cool air moves in.

Temperatures will fall into the mid-60s for the weekend and the cooler conditions will pose a risk for early morning frosts. This slight taste of fall conditions will clear by next week as temperatures return into the mid-70s.
