Lea Zmurko:  Temperatures on the rise, but still a cool breeze for Wednesday.

July 24: A warm welcome to dry weather

The Northland will start to see dry weather and rising temperatures through the rest of the week. With a light lake breeze this afternoon, temperatures will remain in the mid-70s region wide, clouds will be passing but overall, a sunny day part.

Another foggy morning to start our Wednesday morning. Low visibility lingers in west central Minnesota until after sunrise. Patches of fog are also expected to pop up for the early morning commute across the Iron Range and northwest Wisconsin over the next few days.

Today will be sunny and bright with scattered cumulus clouds passing in the afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the mid-70s region wide and then skies will clear for a comfortable evening with lows in the mid-50s.

There will still be an easterly wind for the afternoon. Winds have died down, but the lake breeze will keep conditions cooler along the shorelines.

The Northland is in a stretch of dry weather for the rest of the work week. There will be a lingering haze in the air due to wildfire smoke aloft from the fires in Canada.

A shift in wind direction to a southerly direction will move encourage warm air into the area. High temperatures are expected to be in the upper 80s by Friday and through the weekend. The next few evenings will remain dry and comfortable with overnight temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to low-70s.

There is an increased likelihood for showers and thunderstorms arriving this weekend and into next week. A round of scattered showers is expected across north-central Minnesota on Saturday, and then more widespread rain for Sunday evening into Monday.
