Lea Zmurko: The work week is coming in hot!

August 26: Hot, Humid, and ahead of the storms

That hot weather continues for our Monday afternoon. Plenty of heat advisories and storm outlooks are already issued for the work week.

Plenty of high dewpoints and calm winds for early morning fog across central Minnesota.

The warm trend continues from the weekend with temperatures in the mid to upper 80s this afternoon. Heat indices will be reaching 100 for some this afternoon in areas with minimal cloud coverage. A heat advisory is in place across northwest Wisconsin and Pine County for this afternoon and evening. After a few days with some showers and storms, a more seasonable trend will carry out the week.

A few showers are passing across the Iron Range and progressing north up the Arrowhead in the morning hours. There will be some clearing for the middle of the day before more showers and thunderstorms arrive in the late afternoon and last overnight

Some portions of the Northland have marginal or enhanced risks for severe weather with the key risks being 70 mph winds, large hail, and enough localized heavy rain for ponding.

Wednesday will be a break from rain and heat with high pressure briefly set up over the Great Lakes bringing in more comfortable conditions for late August.
