Lea Zmurko: Watch out for the wind!
Strong winds will continue across the Northland this morning as wind speeds is expected to exceed 40 mph along the North Shore. The breeziest spots will be north of Silver Bay with wind gust of 50 to 60 mph continuing throughout the morning. A high wind warning as well as widespread wind advisories are in effect until 10 AM. The key threat with such windy conditions is the risk of fallen trees or powerlines. Winds will start to die down slowly through out the day and conditions will be calm by sunset as high pressure starts to move in from the northwest.
Temperatures will remain in the upper 30s and low 40s and more sunshine will be expected in the afternoon as the clouds continue to clear out. Tonight will be chilly as temperature fall into the 20s but the rest of the week will be in the mid-forties.
Some rain and slushy snowflakes are expected on Wednesday, but the rest of the week remains dry. At most only a half an inch of rain is expected but with enough cooling further north some snow may be mixing in.
