Our Tuesday begins with most areas above freezing in 30s and even 40s. Temps have dipped into the 20s locally from the Iron Range into the Arrowhead. We’ll find ourselves on the backside of a weak cold front today. Despite this, it’s another day with well above average temperatures as highs range from near 50 in International Falls to low 60s in east central Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin. Duluth may tie the daily record of 60 set in 2016. The cold front has left us with drier air and a breezy northwest winds. This combo will lead to near critical fire weather conditions which could allow for the rapid spread of fires.

Temps fall a touch below freezing tonight with lows in mid-20s to low 30s under gradually increasing cloud cover. Wednesday will be partly to mostly cloudy with highs in mid-40s to upper 50s looking from north to south across the Northland. An east wind develops and keeps shoreline communities in the 40s as well. The east wind will pick up on Thursday to keep temps near Lake Superior in upper 30s to low 40s. Highs inland will be in mid to upper 40s.

Friday ends the week dry with highs in the 40s. A system passing to the north will bring scattered snow and wintry mix showers across the Arrowhead and into the South Shore Friday night and Saturday. Lake effect chances linger along the South Shore on Sunday. That system will also trigger a cooling trend through the weekend with highs in 20s and 30s on Sunday.
