A front crossing the Northland today is responsible for a wind shift, the introduction of cooler air, and areas of light snow or rain. Slippery stretches have been observed over parts of north central Minnesota this morning from the Brainerd Lakes Area to Deer River to International Falls. Amounts remain very light, but a dusting could be just enough for slick conditions this morning. Bands of light snow and rain will cross northeast Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin through the morning then fizzle out in the afternoon. Skies will be mostly cloudy. Winds shift from southeast ahead of the front to west behind it. Temperatures begin very mild for most this morning with many areas above freezing. The front will allow for a cooling trend looking from southeast to northwest across the region today with highs ranging from 50 in Butternut to low 40s in the Twin Ports to near 30 for International Falls.

Tonight sees lows in low teens to low 20s under partly cloudy skies. Friday will have mostly sunny skies with the exception being areas of northwest Wisconsin where clouds reach in from a system that keep precipitation south of even Price County. Highs range from low 30s to low 40s with 38 in Duluth. Saturday begins with teens to low 20s, then we’ll top off above freezing in mid-30s to low 40s with sunshine. Dry weather and a warming trend will take us through the start of next week with widespread 50s on Monday. An east wind will bring cooler conditions for those near Lake Superior Sunday through Tuesday.
