February 17: Bitter cold night

An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued throughout northern Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Another bitter cold night is in store for the Northland. Overnight lows will range from -6 degrees in Ironwood to the -20s in the Twin Ports and areas west. Wind chill values will be between -30 and -40.

An Extreme Cold Warning has been issued for tonight, in effect until 10 am. This includes northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. The western U.P., including Gogebic County, is under a Cold Weather Advisory until 9 am.

Tuesday will be sunny with afternoon highs in the single digits. A blustery northwest wind of 10-20 mph will put wind chill values between -30 and -40 all day. Wednesday will be slightly warmer with winds less gusty.

On Thursday, afternoon highs will return to the teens. By Saturday, temperatures will reach the 20s. Sunday will be unseasonably warm with highs in the 30s.
