Sabrina Ullman: Calm before multiple days of precipitation

After a breezy day, we will briefly break from the gusty winds. Clear skies are expected tonight, and overnight lows will be near 30 degrees.

We will have quiet weather on Monday with sunshine in the morning and calmer winds until the evening. On Monday night, we will have the arrival of a strong low-pressure system that will impact the Northland for a few days.

Rain is likely Monday night through Tuesday. Gusty east winds are expected on Monday night, becoming southwest as this system lingers over the head of the lake. The heaviest rain will be along the North Shore. Most of the area can expect around an inch of rain Monday night through Wednesday. Ponding is possible during this time.

As cold air ushers in on Wednesday, mixed precipitation is likely. Areas along the South Shore could see snow showers linger into Thursday. Northern Wisconsin and the U.P. could have measurable snow, but the rest of the area will have minimal accumulation.
