Sabrina Ullman: Chance of rain and snow

Wind and snow are in store for our Monday (WDIO).
There have been a few showers today, mostly near the international border. Rain will become widespread late tonight, with some snow mixing in by morning. Overnight lows will be in the upper 30s to low 40s.
Winds will pick up speed, reaching gusts as high as 40 mph on Monday. Temperatures will be consistent all day with highs near 40 degrees. Rain and snow are likely on and off throughout the day, especially in the afternoon.
Most of the area will have little or no snow accumulation. A small portion of Cook County will have 3-6 inches possible, and other areas in the Arrowhead region will have 1-3 inches. As this system exits Monday night, the South Shore Snow Belt will see 1-3 inches as well.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 5 am to 10 pm Monday for northern St. Louis, Lake, and Cook Counties. There will also be one in effect for Iron County and the U.P. from 7 pm Monday to 10 am Tuesday. Additionally, a Wind Advisory has been issued for the North Shore, in effect from 2 pm Monday to 9 am Tuesday.
Winds will gradually weaken Tuesday into Wednesday, and skies will clear. There will be another round of rain entering the region late Wednesday night, becoming widespread on Thursday. This round is only expected to have rain as the precipitation type. Temperatures will warm by a couple of degrees by the end of the week with no major swing in the forecast.
Tonight
Rain is likely, mainly after 11 pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low of around 36. Breezy, with an east wind of 5 to 15 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Monday
Rain and snow likely before 1 pm, then rain likely between 1 pm and 5 pm, then rain and snow likely after 5 pm. Cloudy, with a high near 43. Windy, with a northwest wind around 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 45. Breezy, with a northwest wind of 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Wednesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 48. Light east wind becoming southeast at 5 to 10 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
