December 36: Dense fog

Dense fog will become widespread tonight and linger through Friday morning. Rain is likely starting on Friday afternoon.

Fog with under a mile of visibility is possible tonight. A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for the Northland, except for the U.P. The advisory will be in effect from 10 pm tonight to noon tomorrow.

Freezing drizzle is possible tonight, making roads and sidewalks have slick spots. Friday will be the warmest day this week with afternoon highs near 40 degrees. Widespread rain is likely starting in the evening and lasting into Saturday. Snow will mix in late Friday night as the temperatures begin to drop.

Temperatures will stay relatively warm through the weekend, but we will have cooler conditions by the time we ring in the new year.

Tonight

A slight chance of drizzle or freezing rain before midnight, then a chance of drizzle. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a steady temperature around 34. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday

Drizzle likely before noon, then rain, mainly after noon. Areas of fog. High near 40. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Saturday

Rain likely, possibly mixed with snow, mainly before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
