Sabrina Ullman: Chilly conditions return this week

Tonight will have mostly clear skies and a light southwest wind becoming northwest after midnight. Overnight lows will mostly be in the 40s in northern Minnesota and the low 50s in northern Wisconsin.

Monday will be the last day of t-shirt weather for a while. Afternoon highs will be in the upper 70s for areas south of Carlton County, near 70 degrees along the Iron Range and westward, and in the upper 50s to mid-60s near the lake and into the Arrowhead region.

A cold front will bring rain chances on Tuesday. Rain will move from west to east, entering Koochiching County at around noon and reaching the Twin Ports in the late afternoon. Accumulations will likely be under a tenth of an inch, but we could see localized higher amounts within thunderstorms overnight.

As this system exits early Wednesday morning, we may see a small amount of snow mix in. With the recent warm weather, anything that sticks will melt quickly.

Temperatures will be roughly 20-30 degrees colder Wednesday afternoon than Monday at the same time. Highs will be in the 40s. We will see temperatures reach the mid-50s for the rest of the week, but it looks like fall weather is finally here to stay.
