December 15: Fog and light snow

Dense fog will continue into Monday morning, and a clipper will bring up to two inches of snow.

As one low-pressure system exits tonight, another will enter. The wintry mix we have had today has been due to a low-pressure system to our south that will keep moving eastward. Meanwhile, a weak clipper will enter from the Dakotas tonight into Monday.

Dense fog will linger into Monday morning for areas in the higher terrain of the North Shore stretching into Carlton County. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect until 9 am.

Temperatures will stay steady in the mid to upper 30s tonight. On Monday, we will have our highs in the morning as temperatures fall during the day. By the early evening, temperatures will be near 30 degrees.

Rain and snow showers tonight will continue into the morning. By the afternoon, it will be cold enough to have snow as the only precipitation type. Most of the Northland will have an inch or less of accumulated snow, but areas northwest of the Iron Range can expect 1-2 inches.

Up to two inches of snow is possible on Monday as a weak clipper passes through the region (WDIO).

Monday night will be windy with a few lingering flurries. We will have a break from snow chances on Tuesday and most of Wednesday. Temperatures will drop with highs in the teens to low 20s and lows near zero expected for the rest of the week.

Another round of snow is likely Wednesday night into Thursday. Amounts over four inches will be possible in some areas. The Storm Track Weather Team will continue to keep everyone updated as this storm gets closer to the Northland.
