Sabrina Ullman: Storms early this evening

Storms have started to form this afternoon, and more are likely in the early evening. Severe thunderstorms are expected before 9 pm. Hail up to 1.5” in diameter will be the main risk, but tornado formation is possible. Damaging winds are likely in the later evening hours.

Severe weather is most likely in areas in Pine County and further north and east. The good news is that any thunderstorms will be brief, clearing by 10 pm. Overnight lows will be near 60 degrees.

Friday will be mostly sunny with afternoon highs in the 70s. There will be a gusty west wind, but we will take a break from rain until Saturday.

Rain is likely on Saturday evening. We may have thunderstorms, but none are expected to become severe. Once that round clears early Sunday, the rest of the weekend will be pleasant with comfortable temperatures. Cooler temperatures will coincide with the first day of fall on Sunday. Afternoon highs will drop to the sixties and stay that way through next week.
