Sabrina Ullman: Temperatures gradually drop this week

Afternoon highs will be in the 20s to low 30s on Monday and in the teens on New Year's Day. We will also see overnight lows drop to the single digits by the end of the week, which is normal for this time of year.

Fog will briefly clear late this afternoon, but we will likely see it return tonight. Afternoon highs will range from 31 degrees in International Falls to 38 degrees in Grand Marais.

Temperatures were 15-20 degrees above normal on Saturday, but we will see a cool-down by the new year. Afternoon highs will be in the 20s to low 30s on Monday and teens on New Year’s Day. We will also see overnight lows drop to the single digits by the end of the week, which is normal for this time of year.

This week will be mostly dry overall. A northwest wind will pick up on Tuesday and continue through Friday. With Lake Superior still being relatively warm, the lake-effect snow machine can ramp up for the South Shore. Elsewhere, the next chance of snow is on Saturday.
